If, however, something gets burned

In private households, the kitchen is considered to be the number one source of fire. Because amateur chefs easily forget to remove the pot from the cooker or do not switch off the cooker – which may result in fire within a few minutes.

Particularly in the kitchen, fire prevention and control are of highest importance. It is therefore essential to have a smoke detector also in this room. Using most advanced sensor technology, the JUNG smoke detector distinguishes between water vapour and hazardous smoke. Thus, false alerts are virtually excluded and the residents are on the safe side.
Convenient feature: You may manually inhibit the alarm feature of the detector for 10 minutes by pressing the Test/Stop key. Thus, false alerts may be prevented from occurring, when smoke is expected to be generated in addition to vapour because of the way the meals are prepared in the kitchen. After these 10 minutes, the alarm feature is automatically enabled again.

Reliably detects smoke and heat – double safety thanks to dual sensor/processor technology

Thanks to dual sensor/processor technology, the JUNG smoke detector is able to recognise and evaluate when smoke or heat is generated. To provide this feature, it combines conventional optical smoke detection with analysing the temperature changes occurring in the monitored radius. This dual safety mechanism initiates an alert only when there are definite indications of a fire.
Internally to the JUNG smoke detector, there is the smoke sensing chamber. An infrared diode continually emits light signals that will not get into contact with the light sensitive photocell until smoke particles enter the chamber.
In case of fire, smoke particles will spread within the smoke sensing chamber and reflect the light emitted by the infrared diode thus causing the light pulses to hit the highly sensitive photo sensor. The downstream electronics recognises this effect as a risk of fire and the smoke detector immediately initiates an alert.

Press, test, be safe

The JUNG smoke detector automatically verifies its readiness for operation once a minute. Additionally, it automatically adapts the sensitivity of its optical detection system, based on environmental impacts, to ensure optimum functionality.

Moreover, the Test key is to be operated in regular intervals, as stipulated by the DIN EN 14676*, to verify readiness for operation and effectiveness of the smoke detector.

To keep this manual maintenance simple and convenient, the entire bottom housing cover of the JUNG smoke detector is used as the Test/Stop key. By applying pressure to the smoke detector, a test alert is initiated which ensures readiness for operation.

*DIN EN 14676 is an "application standard", i.e. it defines the requirements on installation, operation, and maintenance of smoke detectors in residential houses, flats, and rooms that are used in a similar way.
