Steigenberger Hotel, Cologne

Overnighting under monument protection

The Steigenberger Hotel presents a stylish atmosphere after its most recent, extensive renovations and reconstructions. In addition to 305 rooms and suites, the hotel also has a generous conference floor and a wellness area. The interior architects have developed the individual character of the already existing architecture with a sensitivity towards the location. By opening up the space in the reception area, lobby and bar and merging these areas together, the hotel now receives its guests with a pleasant sense of generosity.

Warm grey tones were deployed that carry themselves harmoniously through the design of the building. Powerful colours set the style in the accessories and in the pieces of art. The large window fronts of the bar and lobby as well as in the conference areas and the ballroom are kept free of curtains as far as possible, to make a feature out of the transparency of the architecture. The window niches in the rooms and suites are kept free of heavy curtains and used for desks and bench seats, to open up views of this cathedral city.

The electrical installations match the exclusive atmosphere of the hotel in the classic LS 990 switch design from JUNG.  With its high quality and clear shape, the LS 990 has proved its worth for almost 50 years. In its purist realisation in white and black, this switch range complements the interior design of the Steigenberger Hotel. USB chargers for wall installation enable the recharging of two mobile devices with a USB connection in the guest rooms and in the Communal Table Lodge. These devices harmoniously match the décor in their switch design. The LS ZERO, the flush-mounted version of this classic switch, is deployed in the Lodge. The LS ZERO carries through the design constants of the classic LS 990 range in a new, flush-mounted version. This way, the furniture and the switches combine with each other in a smooth transition. This generates new choices in modern interior architecture – with furnishing schemes making a compelling design statement.
