Administrative centre of the public utility company, Karlsruhe

Energy renovation

The public utility company is an energy partner in Karlsruhe and the region for electricity, natural gas, district heating and drinking water. In the course of an energy renovation, the SCOPE architect practice was commissioned to implement a design concept for interior spaces and workplaces.

When employees and visitors enter the foyer of the organisation after the renovation, they are surprised by a bright, generous space with complementing materials and a sophisticated lighting concept. The reception and the consulting areas are integrated by a uniform wall design, but contrast with the white surroundings with wood and material coverings on the walls. The polygonal building structure is also reflected in the interior space concept: ceilings and separating walls for the consulting areas pick up the visual pattern that extends as a leitmotif through the whole building. The four office floors have been extended with modern meeting rooms, a management area and cross-team communication spaces. A network of linear lights is woven through the whole building and provides even lighting for all areas.

In the course of the energy renovation, the intelligent KNX system was used. Using F 50 push-button sensors from the LS 990 range by JUNG, lighting, blinds and heating can be conveniently controlled.
